CUBE: MULTIFUNCTIONAL FURNITURE FOR STUDENTS
THE CHALLENGE
Students around the world were struggling with productivity, not because they lacked motivation, but because their living spaces worked against them. Through observational research, Leo identified a clear problem: the bed had become the centre of everything, with people studying, scrolling, resting and procrastinating. In small bedrooms filled with too much furniture, students were forced into uncomfortable postures and cluttered environments that made focus difficult. Beds, desks, lamps and side tables competed for space, creating chaos instead of clarity. This setup encouraged distraction, delayed work and poor study habits, making it harder for students to stay organised, proactive and on track with their academic goals.
THE SOLUTION
Leo designed Cube, a multifunctional piece of furniture created to change behaviour through smart design. Built around a minimalist concept, Cube allowed users to easily switch between functions, turning into a desk for studying, a comfortable air mattress for sleeping or a visual alarm system using translucent panels and colour cues to support time management. Designed to fit within a compact 60cm x 60cm footprint, Cube replaced multiple pieces of furniture with a single, flexible solution. By simplifying the space and guiding healthier habits, Cube helped students stay organised, reduce procrastination and make better use of limited living environments.
